Robocup 2019 Sydney & 2018 Montreal

Participating in Robocup Junior was the experience that solidified my passion for robotics. I was very fortunate to represent my school and Singapore in the international stage.

Robocup Junior 2019 Sydney Onstage

The task was to build robots to make a performance. We managed to win the first place! Our performance had 4 components:

  • The highlight was the humanoid-shape (wheeled base) robot called Eve
  • A laptop to record my motion and using Openpose for 2D pose detection to send command to Eve
  • The guitar playing robot with many servos and a camera to decode a music script
  • Repurposed Soccer holonomic robot flashing lights

Post-competition development

After the competition, I extended the project by building an exo-suit to control Eve more directly instead of using the webcam. The exo-suit wrapped around the operator body and it had rotary encoders at the joints to map the joint angle on to Eve.
